Ironwood was selected as our brand identity because this type of tree is "resistant to many diseases and insect problems". This speaks to a corporate focus on Bug-Resistant software, with a subtle nod to Graydon Hoare's explanation for the name of the Rust programming language: named after a fungi that is "over-engineered for survival"

As a category of trees, Ironwood is known as the "hardest" of woods. This is a double entendre - not only is the Rust Programming Language hard to learn, but products written in Rust are hard to be compromised by malicious actors. Combined with embracing security best-practices from OWASP, this speaks to Ironwood's determination to do what is difficult to achieve when it results in the strongest outcome.

CCM is Customer Communications Management - a business acronym describing the sum of customer-focused communications from an organization, including Statements, Policies, Claims, Contracts, and more - over the customer-preferred channel such as e-Mail, Print, SMS, Social, Chat.
